Rekonwith

Bio:
In the winter of 2006, on a whim, David James Wolstencroft, aka TRUSME, sent some of his work to various labels around the globe. It paid off. The now legendary CD sampler “Nards” led to the immediate release for TRUSME on the Still label, sparking the beginning of a promising musical career for one very talented individual.

TRUSME’s musical roots trace way back to an early age where he dabbled with various instruments. He began studying production, but soon developed a love of vinyl culture, which shifted his focus towards the art of mixing and digging for unique samples.

Surrounded by the heads of Manchester and its deep routed scene his musical taste has continued to evolve, resulting in eclectic DJ sets where his passion exudes. Naturally, this diversity shines through in his production: “Like bookends, some 12”s will work with both the beginning and the end of the night, such is the classy sampling from TRUSME.” Peter Nicholson XLR8R Review March 2007.

TRUSME’s debut release on Chicago’s Still Music label was quickly follow by two more, all blowing up on both sides of the pond and accelerating the buzz on this new artist. His production is constantly compared to Moodymann and our such Detroit luminaries with releases usually snatching ‘Record of the week’ in hosts of global outlets from Piccadilly Records - Manchester to Jazzy Sport – Japan. He’s also getting love from all the right supporters, Ashley Beedle, Rob da Bank, Mad Matts, Kenny Dixon Jr, Amp Fiddler, Chris Duckenfield, Rob Luis….and the list keeps growing. His debut was first championed by Gilles Peterson on BBC radio 1: “If there was ever a house record made for me, it would sound like this.”

Dec 2007 sees the release of his first album. Entitled “Working Nights”, this captures some of the previous singles along with a host of future classics which re-enforce the Trusme sound.“it's difficult to name highlights when every track is so good” seems to be a common reaction from a growing global fan-base. One thing’s for sure it is a timeless debut that’s sure to last. “i am actually blown away from the flow, production and music…my kinda housemusic for sure. 100% soulful” Michael Rutten - Compost

In less than a year Trusme has established himself as a serious and prolific producer with a huge career in front of him. 2008 will see the launch of his own label imprint “Prime Numbers” an outlet for him and other great artists that fit the ethos Trusme is about. He has lots of projects under way for Defected, Tru Thoughts, Eskimo and the second album is already rolling with some exciting guests involved….It’s time to catch a rising star in the making!

No Way Back w/Tony Watson, Hatchback (live), The Beat Broker & Conor Saturday 03.13.10

NO WAY BACK/

TONY WATSON
(Adult Contemporary, SENTRALL, Rong, Ibadan)

HATCHBACK (live performance)
(Ghostly International, THISISNOTANEXIT, DFA, Eskimo)

THE BEAT BROKER
(Flexx, Hands of Time, SENTRALL)

CONOR
(No Way Back, Rong)

RECORD RELEASE PARTY: ADULT CONTEMPORARY + SENTRALL

SATURDAY MARCH 13th 2010
$10/$5 RSVP
222 Hyde
featuring TURBO SOUND

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

ABOUT TONY WATSON:

Tony Watson is a respected music figure in an undisputed entertainment Mecca. Los Angeles is where the spotlight shines on many, and sometimes, as in his case, it fixates and radiates upon a deserving, home-grown talent. Watson, a DJ and producer, has basked in the glow of local nightlife honors, including the "Best DJ-Selector" (per LA Weekly), and as a promoter, his parties have ranked among URB magazine's "Best Intimate Soirees." Such accolades are all good, but certainly, they're not all that's good about Watson.

Beyond L.A.'s ever-present glitz, Watson is continued proof that the spotlight arrives, thrives and luminously lingers amidst the underground. Thanks to Body Music, his sonic signature comprising intelligent selections of house, disco, funk, Afrobeat and beyond - basically, "anything that makes your body move" - he's left an indelible imprint on the L.A. scene. Consequently, legions of music aficionados and like-minded peers gravitate toward the experience Watson provides: the uplifting, transcendent side of nightlife.

Watson's current career momentum dates to 2000 and his three-year residency at MORE Fridays, a popular weekly party that attracted legendary DJs Kerri Chandler and Harvey (and major Watson influences), among others. Soon thereafter, his DJ style, literally, took on a life of its own. Regular Body Music events sprang up around L.A., further cementing his sound and vision. Their success proved that Body Music isn't solely a vibe, but also Watson's ongoing nightlife ethos - one devoid of worry, attitude, and musical boundaries. Guided by an eclectic sonic palette, and supported by a community of inspired, energetic loyalists, it sometimes seems he's repurposed the classic mantra "free your mind and the rest will follow."

Now more than ever, Watson's brand of music-driven free spiritedness is in effect. It lives online via his website, www.mekanic.com, and at venues offering captive audiences for not only his selector skills, but his numerous remixes and original productions. "Passages" (2000), still a staple in DJ sets, brought Watson global recognition, appearing on compilations for respected labels Ibadan, Om Records and Pacha Recordings. "Ghetto in the WAX" (2002), first recorded for L.A. label WAX, also re-surfaced on DJ Garth's mix CD "Nite:Life 07" on NRK Sound Division. Currently, Watson's DJ gigs and solo productions (also using the moniker "Mekanic") are supplemented by collaborations with DJ Rylo and under aliases Project Sandro (with Rollmottle) and Nice Dreams (with Royaer). These dynamic duos have spawned several well-received singles - notably, Project Sandro's "Blazer" - which also appears on Sonar Kollektiv's Computer Incarnations for World Peace II

ABOUT HATCHBACK

Hatchback is the nom du disque of Samuel Milton Grawe, a lifelong music lover and creator of expansive, evocative, easygoing electronic epics. Born in 1976, he spent his childhood between Maclean, VA, and New Delhi, India, and beyond; traveling the world with his World Bank-employed father and always listening to his Walkman as he went, thereby instilling an enduring link between music and travel. His parents introduced him early on to ABBA, the Eurythmics, and Culture Club; later he discovered the '70s prog rock of Yes, Pink Floyd, ELP, and the like, which eventually led to a late-teenaged Krautrock obsession, beginning with Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze, moving on to Neu!, and so on. The common denominator in all of this musical terrain is synthesizers, so it's no surprise that when the young Grawe began experimenting with making his own music it was with a Casio keyboard-cum-calculator that he'd seen a second-grade classmate use. He moved on to working with analog synths and MIDI sequencers, dabbling in IDM and psychedelic electronica throughout the '90s. After moving to San Francisco in 1998, Grawe hooked up with guitarist Dan Judd, of the band Call & Response, who records under the moniker Sorcerer. The two began jamming on Saturday mornings, eventually performing live -- briefly as a trio dubbed "Brown Rainbow" -- and later solidifying their studio-based collaboration, around 2006, under the name Windsurf. As they continued their joint and solo production work, they became increasingly associated with the burgeoning international current of electronica shorthanded as Cosmic Disco or Nu-Balearic, helping to forge an unlikely connection between Scandinavia and the Bay Area that also included fellow travelers like Arp, Rubies and Dominique Leone. After posting their music on the website Dream Chimney, both Hatchback and Sorcerer were approached about releasing 12"s on two European labels (THISISNOTANEXIT and Tirk, respectively) which coincidentally both solicited remixes from Norwegian cosmic disco figurehead Prins Thomas; after Thomas realized the connection, he invited the pair to release an EP (as Windsurf) and eventually a full album on his Internasjonal label. The duo also remixed LCD Soundsystem and Low Motion Disco in 2007; meanwhile Grawe's well-received 12"s "White Diamond" and "Carefree Highway" caught the attention of England's Lo Recordings, paving the roadway for his long-in-the-works debut album as Hatchback, 2008's Colors of the Sun. By day, Grawe is editor in chief of the modern architecture and design magazine Dwell. ~ K. Ross Hoffman, All Music Guide

ABOUT THE BEAT BROKER:

The Beat Broker was born in 1975 and raised in Southern California. His earliest musical influences include radio synth pop and soon after, mid-80s hip-hop by such artists as Eric B. & Rakim and EPMD. It's these production styles of sampling, updating and remixing that would later become a huge influence on his own work.

Working at the local college radio station in the late 90s launched the next chapter of his musical interests. The vast music library opened the door to a variety of electronic music and led to the late-night experimental soundscape show called 'WIRETAP' which became the first step into DJing and studio time. With production partner Ryan Fitzgerald, the two decided to record their sessions and eventually have a studio of their own. They later became Broker/Dealer and have released music on labels such as ASPHODEL, SPECTRAL, TRAUM and SENTRALL.

The Beat Broker began DJing outside of the bedroom in 2001 playing everything from German minimal techno to classic 80s electro to italian disco. As part of Broker/Dealer, the duo created a monthly/weekly party in San Francisco called 'POP', which in its 5 years, had hosted many popular acts such as Erland Oye, Brennan Green and Tako/Loud-E. To create just the right mood, the Beat Broker began to make edits, remixes and even original tracks to mix into the night. From slower "cosmic" music for the beginning of the night to up-tempo synthesizer based crowd pleasers for the peak hours. These productions later became completed works and have been released on labels such as FLEXX, DISQUES SINTHOMME, GHOST TOWN and soon SENTRALL. In the last year the Broker has been working late in his office doing tracks and remixes for Eskimo, Add2Basket, Rebirth and Internasjonal to name a few. While continuing to make remixes and original tracks, the Beat Broker is constantly attempting to fuse old sounds with new ideas and create something for the crowd as well as the listener.

Darkroom w/Jan Krueger, Bells & Whistles, Javaight & dCoy Thursday 03.11.10

Habit,Killswitch & Stap[e present:

DARKROOM

Thursday, March 11th

JAN KRUEGER (Hello?Repeat, Berlin)

w/ support from:

Javaight
dCOY
Bells and Whistles

$5 before 10:30pm, $10 after

222 Hyde st @ Turk
9pm-2am, 21 +

========================================

About Jan Krueger:

It's 1995 in Düsseldorf - Jan's hometown - and he's consumed by the Music of Labels like M-Plant, Relief, Sound Signature, Planet E and Phono. Jan owes his first steps to present his record selection (to those other than his lovely dog and cat) to a very good friend who holds a residency at one of the best underground clubs for electronic music, an old wine cellar located in Wuppertal, near Düsseldorf. Here he had the pleasure to play alongside artists who had inspired him since the early nineties. In short - this is the precise starting point of a never ending story fuelled by love for the music.

In 1996, Jan started to work for a record store and focused on hosting his own parties starring international guests like Daniel Bell, Matthew Herbert, Ata and Steve Bug. Around the same time, he met the young and promising producer Daze Maxim. Both clicked right away and found out that they have a quite similar interest in electronic music. Both decided to start some excursions in Maxim's backroom studio to produce deep and minimal house tracks, which were finally released on Matthias Tanzmann's Moon Harbour Recordings in 2001.

Three years later, Jan determined after sleepless nights to move away from Düsseldorf and all his friends in order to start a new chapter in Hamburg. Because of his long friendship to the staff of Germany's leading distribution company Word and Sound, it was a logical step to take on a position as sales manager there. As a consequence of all this, it wasn't long before he proposed to Daze that they set up a platform for him and friends to release music. Hello?Repeat was born.

As a DJ, Jan is adept in the late night hours, playing his highly individual and addictive mixture of deep house, minimal, and techno with rough edges, always focused on the dance floor. Today Jan lives in Berlin and holds a residency at Panoramabar and Watergate and plays considerably abroad to represent the high quality sound of Hello?Repeat.

About Bells & Whistles :

Two kids in their early twenties coming up in a rapidly growing scene here in San Francisco. They've started their first monthly party call DRESSCODE, bringing house and techno talent from all over the world, to the top of the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, 21 floors up at Harry Denton's Starlight Room. They've played along side people like Claude VonStroke, Tim Green, Bruno Pronsato, Maetrik, Franklin De Costa, and more. Gigs are starting to pop up more frequently now for these two young DJ's, like the Porker Flat 10 year anniversary party with Steve Bug and John Tejada @ the Mezzanine. Lately the Duo has been in the studio working on some music, so be sure to keep an eye out for these two in 2010 .

About dCOY:

Tim dCOY was raised in the Cleveland suburb of Elyria, OH where he spent many a day on a skateboard, strumming his guitar, and playing in psychedelic/alt/Manchester influenced bands.

In the late ‘80s, Tim began going to dance clubs, and found himself being more and more influenced by the electronic sounds of Meat Beat Manifesto, Ministry, Nitzer Ebb and 808 State (to name a few).

In 1996, being heavily influenced by the more raw, stripped down sounds of the Midwest, Tim started DJing in Gainesville, Florida, playing sets of pure techno - contrasting heavily against the local standards of breaks and trance. Always in search of a home, Tim would eventually leave Gainesville to follow his heart to the West. By 2007 Tim was in San Francisco and DJing on a steady diet of minimal techno and tech-house. Alongside fellow DJs Razvan, Farzana, and IXD, Tim helped establish Oakland’s now legendary Black Market Techno.

In February 2008, Tim decided that everyone needed more techno and co-founded Killswitch with DJ Javaight, a weekly techno happy hour in the Lower Haight where Tim continues to push the envelope and the rhythm into the hearts and minds of listeners. Over the years, Tim has played alongside artists such as Dan Curtin, Seth Troxler, Josh Wink, Meat Beat Manifesto, Todd Sines, Reference, Eric Johnston, and Sassmouth, among others. Always keeping the dance floor a priority, dCOY drops with a solid mix of tech and textures, vibrations and aftershocks.

About Javaight:

David Javate aka DJ Javaight aka JV8, is a DJ, event promoter and writer. A veteran DJ from Washington DC and lifelong dance music aficionado, David's love has always been towards the deeper side of house and techno. As is evident in his contributions to SF nightlife with the deep house night, Staple, the ground breaking techno event, Optimal, and the techno happy hour, Killswitch, David continues to showcase deeper styles with a DJ style which acknowledges house and techno's pioneers while also welcoming today's innovators. Showing the diversity of being able to play during different moods of the night, David always strives to take the listener on a journey, and make an audio collage which moves the mind and body.

Binary w/Kieth Kemp, Kenneth Scott & Travis Dalton Tuesday 03.09.10

Come out and celebrate our good friend Keith's full recovery from his recent injury.
